Dynamic tab is the a tab in Prana Breath app for increasing training complexity in a comfortable way. It is available for Guru version only.

What can you see and set in Dynamic tab

In action bar

(from left to right)

  • Main Menu button
  • The name of the tab — "Dynamic"
  • The switch of "Dynamic mode" — if you press it, it turns on and becomes green
  • Menu button in the right corner

In main screen

Here you can see the ratios of each breath cycle and each cycle's chart.

Modify your training parameters

Change the ratio

  1. Double-tap on a cycle (3rd in our case).
  2. Press on "ratio of breath cycle" item in the right drawer appeared.
  3. Modify this value the way you need to. In our case we change the ratio to 1:2:2:0 from initial 1:1:2:0.
  4. Modify other cycles in a desired way. For instance, we've changed the ratio of 5th cycle from 1:2:2:0 to 1:3:2:0.
  • Note that the cycles you've modified have green-coloured chart (3rd and 5th), and all unmodified after them have purple-coloured (4th and 6th). The modified, "green" cycle is a "key cycle", and all "purple" after it will have the very same parameters, unless they are changed and became "green".
  • NB! The 1st cycle is always the "key cycle".

Change the ratios of all "key cycles" at once

  1. Set the ratio for the "key cycle" you'd like, press OK. It's 1:2:2:0 (was 1:1:2:0) for the 1st cycle as for our example.
  2. Mark a checkbox with the changes in ratio. It's [+0:+1:+0:+0] in our case.
  3. Press "Apply".
  • Note that all the "key cycles" AFTER the modified one, have changed as well — the 5th cycle in our example it's 1:4:2:0 now (was 1:3:2:0).

Increase "Seconds per unit" value gradually

  1. Choose a certain cycle (with double-tap). For instance, the 3rd.
  2. Press on "Seconds per ratio unit" item in the right drawer appeared.
  3. Using a spinner, choose the value you'd like. In our case, it's 5 sec 200 msec (was 5 sec before). Press OK.
  4. Modify other cycles. We've chosen 5 sec 400 msec for the 4th, 5 sec 600 msec for the 5th and 6 sec for the 6th cycle.
  • Note that the ratio of breath cycle is the very same for all the cycles in this example, while the actual pattern is 5:20:10:0 for the 1st and 6:24:12:0 for the 6th cycle.

Modify the "sec per unit" value of all "key cycles" at once

  1. Set the "sec per unit" value for the "key cycle" you'd like, press OK. It's 5 sec 100 msec (was 5 sec) for the 1st cycle as for our example.
  2. Mark a checkbox with the changes in "sec per unit". It's [+0.1 sec per unit] in our case.
  3. Press "Apply".
  • Note that all the "key cycles" AFTER the modified one, have changed as well — the 6th cycle in our example it's 6 sec 100 msec now (was 6 sec).

Use diverse breath methods

  1. Choose the custom training you're working with.
  2. Turn the "Dynamic mode" on.
  3. Double-tap on a cycle (1st in our example)
  4. Press on the "Breath methods" menu item in the right drawer appeared.
  5. Choose the breath methods for every phase of this cycle (we pick "left nostril" and "right nostril" for inhaling and exhaling, and "pinched nostrils" for retaining and sustain).
  6. Also keep in mind that you can alternate the nostrils every few cycles if you wish. For that mark a checkbox "Alternate nostrils every 1 cycle", choose the number of cycles after which the nostrils will be alternated (pressing on a number). As for our example, we leave it as "1".
  7. Press "Apply" after you're done.
  • Note that the 2nd cycle has the nostrils alternated now.
  • If you set "inhale" or "exhale" with a certain nostril, you will hear a phase transition sound from corresponding side only in your headsets or stereo speakers.

Make all cycles the same back

  • If you want to cancel some of the settings, or feel lost about the setting you've chosen, you can always rewrite them with the following:
  1. Choose a certain cycle (1st in our case), double-taping on it.
  2. Set the cycle the way you like, using the info described above.
  3. Mark a checkbox "Make them the same".
  4. Press "Apply".
  5. Note that this cycle now becomes the "key cycle" , and all "key cycles" that are AFTER this cycle will become "usual" (purple-coloured), and have the very same parameters.

Change quantity and order of cycles

Insert a cycle

  • Use this feature to insert a cycle at any place in your training
  1. With Dynamic mode turned on, touch and hold a cycle. Let it be 2nd for our example.
  2. Press "Insert below" if you'd like the new cycle to be added right below the highlighted one. See that the 3rd cycle on a screenshot is the same than the 2nd.
  3. Press "Insert above" if you'd like the new cycle to be added right above the highlighted one. See that the 2nd cycle on a screenshot is the same than the 1st.
  • Note that if you insert a cycle above, it is the same as the previous (before highlighted) one, and it is always a "usual", purple-coloured cycle.
  • NB! You cannot insert a cycle above the 1st cycle.

Please see these screenshots for the visual guidance:

Reset the "key cycle"

  • Use this feature to reset the "key cycle" (green-coloured) at any place in your training
  1. With Dynamic mode turned on, touch and hold a cycle. Let it be the 3rd for our example, the "key cycle".
  2. Press "Reset". See that the 3rd cycle on a screenshot is now "usual" (purple-coloured) and the very same as the previous "key cycle", the 1st.
  • NB! You cannot reset the 1st cycle.

Please see these screenshots for the visual guidance:

Delete a cycle

  • Use this feature to delete a cycle at any place in your training
  1. With Dynamic mode turned on, touch and hold a cycle. Let it be 6th as for our example.
  2. Press "Delete". See that the 7th cycle is now the 6th.
  • Note if you delete a "key cycle", all the "usual" cycles (purple-coloured) will automatically acquire the properties of the existing "key cycle" above. If there's no other "key cycle" above, those cycles will become the same as the 1st cycle.
  • NB! You cannot delete the 1st cycle.
