Origin, history

The word "Chakra" can be translated from Sanskrit as "Circle" or "Wheel", and is thought to be the node point, an energy swirl of energy channels ("Nadi") in subtle body.
This training type is derived from Bija Mantra ("Sacred Seed Chants" from Sanskrit), Vaikhari Japa ("Audible Chant Meditation") practice, and first featured in the Upanishads.
In Prana Breath this training type is adapted even for people that don't practice Yoga and/or don't have much time for practice but still need its effect.

Setting the training

  1. Download this pattern if you don't have it yet.
  2. Choose this pattern in Training tab or Control tab.
  3. Set the optimal training complexity so the training brings you joy, yet doesn't seem too easy. Use the options in Control tab and/or Dynamic tab to adjust all parameters.

Training process

  1. Choose the comfortable position.
  2. Empty your lungs, breathing out with effort ("Prepare").
  3. Make a full inhalation ("Inhale") though your nose.
  4. Exhale through your mouth, concentrating on your first, Root Chakra and chanting "Laamm". Feel the vibration and let the sound flow freely. Repeat a few cycles (as all the rest chants).
  5. Inhale and exhale, this time concentrating on your second, Sacral Chakra and chanting "Vaamm".
  6. Then concentrate on your third, Solar Chakra and chant "Raamm".
  7. After that comes the fourth, Heart Chakra and chant "Yaamm".
  8. Then - the fifth, Throat Chakra and chant "Haamm".
  9. After that - the sixth, Third Eye Chakra and chant "Shaamm".
  10. And finally - the seventh, Crown Chakra and chant "Ommm" or "Aummm".
  11. After you're done, you might take some time for meditating and contemplating yourself.
  • Remember to follow the chant indicators while you are practicing this training pattern.
  • Note you can add or subtract the quantity of breathing cycles for each of chakras in Dynamic tab.
  • Different schools of Yoga have different views on the way those mantras should be chanted. Some of them say your "Laa" or "Auu" should last about 75-80% of exhaling duration, while "Mmm" - 20-25%. The others say it should be the other way around. We think it's better to try different ways and find what feels better for you.

Other questions

How long should I train? How can I combine this pattern with another? Should I always inhale through my nose?
